SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE
ALL SUNDAYS unless otherwise posted on our calendar.

Each Sunday we have a service that we call our “Worship Service.” This starts at 10:30am. This for all ages of people to join as one group to honor God and Jesus.

A typical Sunday worship service would
include these elements: announcements, congregational singing, choir singing, a prayer time, the LORD’s Supper (also called “communion”), an opportunity to give offerings (typically money contributions),
and a spoken message (also referred to as a “sermon”).

The worship service is held in our sanctuary,
unless other wise noted on our calendar.

A staffed nursery is available
during our 10:30am Worship Service
for pre-school age children who are not in kindergarten yet.

ANNUAL MEETING Updated 01-06-2008

Our congregation’s annual meeting is held each October with its specific date being decided by the Church Board. This meeting is best described as our annual business meeting. In it, we conduct the election of our Elders, Deacons, Church Trustees, and the Church Treasurer. We review the annual reports that have been gathered from various aspects of our congregation’s functions and this becomes what we call our “Annual Report.” We also have a time bring up new business at this meeting. Everyone from the congregation is welcome to be at this meeting. Voting members of our congregation are allowed to vote on the prepared ballot during the appointed time during the meeting.

BOARD MEETING Updated 03-19-2008

A “Board Meeting” is held once a month, on the second Tuesday of the month, at 7:30pm. On occasion, special Board Meetings are called.

Board members are men elected at our annual meeting as an “Elder,” or a “Deacon,” or a “Trustee.”

The word “Deacon” simply means “servant” or “minister.” The Bible tells us about that role in I Timothy 3:8-13. We ask that a Deacon, in his own life, works toward the character qualifications listed in that scripture text.

We ask that a Deacon of our congregation commit himself to fulfilling, or working to fulfill, the following responsibilities and functions:
1. Committed to PERSONAL SPIRITUAL GROWTH. (Daily prayer life and Bible study.

He is committed to meeting when the church meets, etc.) 1 Timothy 3:9

2. Willing to EXAMPLE A SPIRIT OF SERVANTHOOD.
Deacon means “ servant” or “minister.”  Matthew 20:25

3. Willing to CONSISTENTLY ATTEND MONTHLY BOARD MEETINGS.

4. Willing to SERVE THE LORD’S SUPPER on a rotation basis.

5. Willing to SERVE, when asked, ON COMMITTEES APPOINTED BY THE BOARD.

6. Willing to SERVE THE CHURCH by a) helping to meet the physical and spiritual
need of individuals, and b) helping to take care of the church property.

BUILDING FUND OFFERING Updated 09-15-2007
A separate offering is taken (in addition to our regular weekly offering) on the second Sunday of each month at the conclusion of our Worship Service. This is a scheduled time to give money to help pay off our church building mortgage. Money for the building fund can be given any time, however. Simply designated your contribution “Building Fund” and it will be used for that purpose.

C
CENTRAL HEALTH CARE Updated 01-06-2008
Central Health Care is the name of a nursing home facility in neighboring town, Le Center, MN. Approximately six times a year, our minister is asked to lead the weekly chapel service there. Dates of these visits will be announced in our weekly bulletin or check our calendar.

Everyone from our congregation is encouraged to attend this service. It is a service of ministry and worship we can offer to people who are not able to get to regular church services at a church building. We sing songs with the residences, and our minister gives a brief devotional talk. The structured time there is about a half hour or less. After that, you may greet the many fine folk there.

C
CHOIR PRACTICE Updated 10-06-2008
Our choir sings seasonally and for special church events. Practices will be announced in our weekly bulletin or check our calendar. If you like to sing or make a joyful noise, please join the choir. There are no auditions, just come and sing!

DORCAS FELLOWSHIP Updated 10-18-2008

Dorcas Fellowship is open for all women. It meets monthly, typically on the second Tuesday of the month, in the afternoon. The Dorcas Fellowship offers a time to get together to visit but also it is a time to minister. The main focus of their ministry is praying for needs they are aware of and sending cards of encouragement.

The origin of the word “Dorcas” is taken from a woman in the Bible named Dorcas (from the translation of the name Tabitha). In Acts 9, it tells us that Dorcas was always doing good and helping the poor.

ELDERS MEETING Updated 03-19-2008
An “ELDERS MEETING” is held once a month. On occasion, special Elders Meetings are called when needed.

Elders are men elected at our annual meeting to serve our congregation in the capacity of spiritual leadership. They are the highest authority group in our congregation; coming under the headship of Jesus Christ.

The Greek word for “Elder” simply means “old man.” The Bible tells us about the role of an Elder in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. We ask that an Elder, in his own life, works toward the character qualifications listed in those scripture texts.

We ask that an Elder of our congregation commit himself to fulfilling, or working to fulfill, the following responsibilities and functions:
1. Willing to SHEPHERD. (Willing to know and care for individuals on a one-to-one basis. Also, he desires to help meet their needs when he is aware of them.) Acts 20:28

2. Committed to PERSONAL SPIRITUAL GROWTH. (Daily prayer life and is into God’s Word, the Bible.
He is committed to meeting when the church meets, etc.) 1 Peter 5

3. Is ABLE TO TEACH AND ABLE TO COMMUNICATE BOLDLY THE WORD OF GOD to both Christians and non-Christians.
1 Timothy 3:2 and Titus 1:9

4. Willing to LEAD BY EXAMPLE. 1 Peter 5:3

5. Willing to make periodic VISITS. (Visit and take communion to the sick and shut-ins. Visit church members.
Make evangelistic calls.) James 5:14 and Acts 20:17-35

6. Willing to CONSISTENTLY ATTEND MONTHLY ELDER’S MEETINGS AND BOARD MEETINGS.

7. Willing to, but not essential, to prepare and present a COMMUNION MEDITATION OR THOUGHT on a rotation basis.
